‘Game Of Thrones’: Four Spinoffs Being Developed By HBO
  |  @   |

Some type of spinoff to HBO’s Game of Thrones has been expected since we the fans, and especially HBO, realized how big of a hit it was. The world that the “Song of Ice and Fire” series is set in runs so very deep with history, it can be overwhelming to try to take it all in. It would be crazy not to bring some of those other stories to life. There’s a wealth of great tales to be told—especially ones that happened before the events of the show—such as Robert’s Rebellion, the Children of the Forest (seen above), the fall of the city of Valyria, and so many more. That’s why it was no great shock to find out that, after the main series wraps up, a prequel was more likely than a spinoff.

Now comes news even more exciting than just a potential prequel. It’s being reported that not one, but FOUR different potential Game of Thrones spinoffs are now being developed, and four writers have signed on to work on them along with George R.R. Martin.

Poster For Tom Hardy’s ‘Legend’ Brilliantly Makes The Best Of Bad Review
  |  @   |

Even the best movies usually end up with a few bad reviews, that’s just the way it is. Legend, a movie starring Tom Hardy that released recently in the UK and releases soon here in the States, may not be one of the aforementioned “best” movies. But it is getting generally favorable reviews early on.

Of course some reviews of the movie aren’t too fond of the film. One such critiquing came from The Guardian, who gave Legend only two stars out of a possible five stars. Instead of just being bummed out by the poor review, the folks behind marketing the movie decided to twist the negative into a positive in a decidedly devious way on a new poster that even the man who wrote the review had to tip his hat to.

You can see the poster below.

’42’ Trailer: Harrison Ford & Chadwick Boseman Break Baseball’s Color Barrier
  |  @   |

One of the best moments in sports history was when Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier and became the first African American to play Major League Baseball. Inspirational stories like Robinson’s are begging to be made into movies, but rather than create a straight-up biopic on the most celebrated athlete, 42 will focus on the relationship between Robinson (Chadwick Boseman) and Dodgers’ manager Branch Rickey (Harrison Ford). So check out the first trailer for 42 below.

There are plenty of performances to look out for and enjoy. Ford looks like he is back at the top of his game starring as Branch Rickey, the man who believed that signing Jackie Robinson would change the face of Major League Baseball. Sure the music may be a bit contemporary, but its tone certainly fits into the theme of the film. But the big reason why these kind of films work so well is because everyone loves to cheer for an underdog.

Harrison Ford Set To Join Jackie Robinson Biopic ’42’
  |

If you can’t get Jack Nicholson, I guess this is the next best thing.

Deadline is reporting that Legendary Pictures is looking to none other than Harrison Ford to take on the role of Branch Rickey, for the studio’s upcoming biopic based on the life of Jackie Robinson.

Entitled 42, the film is being penned and will be helmed by Brian Helgeland, and will follow the story of Robinson and his iconic rise to major league baseball. Rickey, Ford’s potential role, was the Brooklyn Dodger’s executive who took a shot on him in the minors, and brought him to the big team.

Brian Helgeland To Write ‘Here There Be Monsters’ For Warner Brothers; Robert Zemeckis In Talks To Direct
  |  @   |

The Wrap is reporting that Warner Brothers and Legendary Pictures have reached a deal with screenwriter Brian Helgeland to pen the script for a movie to be called Here There Be Monsters. The studios have also entered into negotiations with Academy Award–winning director Robert Zemeckis to make the movie for them.

The movie will follow along the same lines as the popular alternate history monster movie sub–sub–genre where real times, places, and historical figures have monsters and all kinds of beasties thrown into the mix.
