‘Rings’ Prank: Samara Crawls Out Of Store TV To Promote ‘The Ring’ Sequel (Video)
  |  @   |

One of the most popular ways to promote a new horror movie is to set up an elaborate prank and film unsuspecting people getting the life scared out of them in the name of marketing. We’ve seen it with Devil’s Due, Curse of Chucky, Carrie, The Last Exorcism, and The Last Exorcism 2, just to name a few.

The latest prank aims to help get the word out about Rings, a sequel to The Ring and The Ring Two. For the prank, people shopping for a new TV in an electronics store are shocked when the always creepy Samara crawls out of one of the TVs and toward them.

‘Rings’: First Trailer For Next Movie In ‘The Ring’ Franchise Arrives
  |  @   |

It’s been 14 years since The Ring, the American remake of the 1998 Japanese horror flick Ringu, was released and became a box office hit. That’s right—you thought that ’80s favorite celebrating its 30-somethingth anniversary made you feel old; just think about those movies from the ’00s you were sure just came out a few years ago getting ready to head off to high school. They grow up so fast. Hell, it’s already been over 11 years since the 2005 sequel was released.

Thankfully for us Paramount Pictures was kind enough to make a third movie in the franchise which hasn’t even come out yet, so we can go back to pretending we’re young again. The trilogy-maker is titled Rings, and Paramount has released the first trailer for the movie.

Luke Evans Becomes The Latest Star Of ‘The Crow’ Reboot
  |

The long-in-development reboot of The Crow has gone through a vast number of attached talent in its pained journey just to get the end of pre-production, including stars Mark Walhberg and Bradley Cooper, screenwriter Nick Cave, and first assigned director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later). The latest director on the project is F. Javier Gutierrez (Before the Fall) and most recently it looked like Tom Hiddleston of Thor and The Avengers was in talks to star in the title role, as was Alexander Skarsgard of True Blood fame.

Well, the news of either Hiddleston or Skarsgard’s imminent casting seems to have been little more than wishful thinking on the part of many because it appears that the role has been filled by Welsh actor Luke Evans, soon to be seen in Fast & the Furious 6 and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. Evans, who recently also signed on to star in Universal Pictures’ summer 2014 release Dracula Year Zero, could previously be seen in the 2010 remake of Clash of the Titans as well as Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood and the 3D re-do of The Three Musketeers.
