Directed by Karyn Kusama (Jennifer’s Body, The Invitation), Destroyer is a gritty crime thriller starring Nicole Kidman (Big Little Lies, The Hours) as a hardened detective on an obsessive and destructive mission to find a murderer and make peace with her tortured past.
Veteran LAPD detective Erin Bell’s (Kidman) grueling journey begins when she arrives on the scene of a John Doe murder and informs the responding officers that she knows the victim’s identity. The victim is a member of a criminal gang she once joined as a young undercover FBI agent; an assignment which ended disastrously and has taken a heavy toll on her life.
HBO has released a new trailer for the long-awaited new season of True Detective, which will premiere nearly three and a half years after season two ended, believe it or not.
The new season stars Oscar winner Mahershala Ali, and the story will take place over the course of three decades. It comes from creator Nic Pizzolatto. You can find much more information on True Detective season three and check out the new trailer as well as a previously released trailer in case you missed it.
Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, a crime film set in Los Angeles reportedly around the time of the 1969 Manson Family murders, is currently in production, and slowly the cast are sending out their headshots from the film via social media. We saw our first look at Leonardo DiCaprio as actor Rick Dalton and Brad Pitt as his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth. Now we are getting our first look at Margot Robbie as Sharon Tate, the pregnant actress wife of director Roman Polanski, who was one of the Manson murder victims.
Netflix has released a new trailer for their upcoming original movie War Machine, which is directed by David Michôd (Animal Kingdom, The Rover) and stars Brad Pitt. The streaming service acquired the film back in 2015.
The movie is based on the book The Operators: The Wild & Terrifying Inside Story of America’s War in Afghanistan, and tells the story of the rise and fall of a four-star general (played by Pitt).
You can read a full synopsis for the movie and watch the new trailer below.
2016 will see two movies about two legendary heroes at odds and forced to fight each other by some outside force. It’s a bit perplexing as to why WB didn’t release the trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice during their Flash and Arrow annual crossover episode and decided to debut the trailer during Jimmy Kimmel Live, which airs on ABC, a Disney owned network, but I digress. The fact of the matter is, we are getting a new trailer for Dawn of Justice, and after a lackluster teaser, and a fairly descent Comic-Con trailer, this latest one will surely have comic book fans (yes even the Marvel ones) excited for this one.
