‘Avengers: Endgame’ To Be Re-Released This Weekend With New Footage, A Little Tribute, and A Few Surprises
  |  @   |

For those Marvel fans who cannot live with the fact that Avatar is still the highest grossing film of all-time, you have another chance to help give Avengers: Endgame the boost it needs to pass James Cameron’s film.

Marvel Studios’ latest is only $45 million shy of crossing Avatar‘s 2.787 billion worldwide. And just to be sure that the re-release isn’t just the same cut of the film that came out way back in late April, there will be some additions to the newest cut of Avengers: Endgame, namely extra footage that never made it in the original cut and a tribute. More on the report below.

Speaking to ComicBook.com, Marvel Studios’ president Kevin Feige briefly spoke about the re-release. Here’s what he had to say:

“We are doing that. I don’t know if it’s been announced. And I don’t know how much… Yeah, we’re doing it next weekend.”

At the same press junket Feige elaborated about how this won’t be an extended cut, but rather a new cut. Here’s what he told Screen Rant:

“Not an extended cut, but there will be a version going into theaters with a bit of a marketing push with a few new things at the end of the movie. If you stay and watch the movie, after the credits, there’ll be a deleted scene, a little tribute, and a few surprises. Which will be next weekend.”

The re-release comes a week before the release of Spider-Man: Far From Home, so if you wanted to check those two out on back-to-back weekends, it is the perfect time to do so. It will be interesting to see what this deleted scene will be and what kind of impact it will have on the film itself.

I gather that it won’t have that much considering it was cut. For all we know, it could be one of those moments from the trailers or TV spots that never made it into the film. As for the tribute, well, it could be something that thanks the fans for their dedication and help to get Marvel Studios where it is now. Or it could be for Stan Lee, the Godfather of Marvel Comics. Sure we saw a small tribute for him in the opening titles for Captain Marvel, but the new cut could feature something different.

Now, it seems a little bit obvious that the move is being made in order to help Avengers: Endgame get an extra push to pass Avatar. As aforementioned, Endgame is only $45 million dollars away from crossing that mark. With the gap being that small, Disney is doing what they need to in order to take that title away from Avatar.
