There are few Marvel Cinematic Universe film franchises that don’t have a trilogy. Spider-Man nearly didn’t get one, and we all know why, but thankfully that was avoided. One Marvel title that hasn’t gotten three standalone films yet is the one that is often overlooked: Ant-Man.
That all changed this past weekend as Peyton Reed, who directed Ant-Man (2015) and Ant-Man and the Wasp (2017), signed on to direct the third installment of the film franchise for Marvel Studios. More on the report below.
Though it started to look like Spider-Man would be going back to Sony after their partnership with Disney came to a crashing end, a surprising deal was able to save the webslinger from the corporate snap that would have dusted the character from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Though both parties agreed on new terms, it was who brought them together that made it all happen. According to new reports, it was Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home star Tom Holland‘s last-minute heroics that were able to save Spidey from being lost to the MCU. Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame marks the end of an 11-year long-form story arc and the continuation of a great comic book movie legacy. These films hold great meaning to those who have been with the franchise since 2008. So to see it all come to a fitting conclusion was a bit sad. That being said, we all know things are never meant to last forever and directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo were able to give Marvel fans the perfect capper by giving these characters we all know and love a satisfying send-off.
Now with Avengers: Endgame on 4K, Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital we can keep those memories alive and watch how it all evolved starting with a billionaire playboy philanthropist. Check out my review below.
Marvel Studios hasn’t had a major appearance at San Diego Comic-Con since 2017, and they made up for their absence in a very big way at SDCC 2019. First they announced the end of “The Infinity Saga,” which is the first 11 years of films since the studio launched way back in 2008. Then Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed a few titles and a few stars that will appear in Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
One of those titles is The Eternals. Directed by Chloe Zhao, the film promises to be one of the most diverse ensemble films that Marvel has ever made. Check out the list below.
