Looks like the legendary comedian Mel Brooks is working on a horror movie with Ruby De Luca and Steve Haberman, both of whom have worked with Brooks before.
The trio are still rewriting the film, which will be produced by Brooks’ Brooksfilms production company, so that they can show it around to film studios. At the moment, the title seems to be Pizza Man.
Mel Brooks and horror? Real horror? I love the man to death, but I definitely need to learn a little more about this party. Perhaps he’s taking a hint from his son, Max Brooks, who also went from comedy (as a writer for Saturday Night Live) to author of some of the best zombie books ever — World War Z and The Zombie Survival Guide.
Also, Brooksfilms prevously produced David Cronenberg’s The Fly and 1980’s The Elephant Man, but comedy has mainly been its — and Mel Brooks’ main focus for decades.
With all the terrible, terrible spoof movies out there, my heart is bent on seeing Mel Brooks make AT LEAST one more spoof of his own, so maybe this news just makes me sad that it might be longer. Who knows?
No further information yet, but interesting news indeed.
Stay tuned!
