To most of us, Warwick Davis is best known for his title role in the movie Willow, as Wicket in The Return of the Jedi, or even his role as Reepicheep in the early BBC Chronicles of Narnia TV series. However, an entirely new generation of kids is getting to know Davis as Professor Flitwick in the Harry Potter movies.
The 38-year-old English actor is one of a very select group of people who has made himself recognizable as an actor, despite his dwarfism. So when he took a look at the last J.K. Rowling Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, he might have been a little saddened by the lack of Professor Flitwick.
The decision to split the last book into two films will hopefully provide for a fuller Battle at Hogwarts, where Professor Flitwick manages to get himself into the thick of the action. “I think that’s a good idea because when you try and squeeze these quite lengthy novels into a two-hour movie, a two-and a half hour film there is gonna be stuff that’s left out,” Davis enthused. “There’s so much in the last book, I think it’ll make two really good films. It’s worthy of that.”
As for the sixth movie, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince? “My character seems to get involved in fun stuff now,” Davis said. “I’ve had an immensely enjoyable time again. It’s a real honor to be a part of number 6.”
