George Lucas Thinking Up 5th ‘Indiana Jones’
space
The Movie God   |  @   |

IndyThe LA Times spoke to Harrison Ford and found out where a fifth installment in the Indiana Jones franchise may stand.

Back in May when the fourth film, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, was released, producer George Lucas said that he and director Steven Spielberg had left the door open for a fifth Indiana Jones movie. Lucas, at the time, also said that he was thinking of having Shia LaBeouf, Ford’s co-star in Crystal Skull, take over the leading role from Ford.

Since then, there’s been no further word on if Ford would be passing the torch to LaBeouf and there still isn’t, but Ford did say that things are moving forward and that “it’s crazy but great.” He said that George Lucas is in “think mode” at the moment.

In regard to what made them want to do another, Ford says:

It’s automatic, really, we did well with the last one and with that having done well and been a positive experience, it’s not surprising that some people want to do it again. Really, it comes from the ethos, from the ether. It’s natural. It’s a way of nature, of course, success breed opportunities … also we don’t stay as closely in contact as [we] have in the last year, that’s part of it.

Not really sure what any of that means, but it’s Harrison Ford. Just nod your head.

Most will think this is insane, but it’s just as insane as it was for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. If they get right to it, the age won’t be much different than it was and considering their last one made $700-ish million worldwide, why the shit not?

I just hope they find some miraculous way to “mutinize” Lucas and make a good one! But that’s not likely happening. Then again, never underestimate the power of Steven Spielberg.

  1. I swear, they should take the storyline for “Fate of Atlantis” the old SCUMM game that I love so much (bias… maybe a little)

    Story done
    Actors Picked
    Start filming?

Yeah… I think it will work out fine whatever they do, George listens to peoples comments (notice that Jar0Jar didn’t even say a word in Ep 3?) so I’m all for giving him a chance

  4. Shia would be a good replacement, Harrison Ford’s got 1 or 2 more good action flics left in his tank.
Maybe they can bring Short Round back as an evil villain! lol

  7. A fifth INdy JOnes would be awesome. If Lost JOurnal Of Indy Jones is any indication, adventure will take place in one of the Hawaiian islands, centering around the search for the long-treasured eye of the peacock diamond. THis is another jewel Indy has been after ever since his late teen years, right after close of world war one. The return of an older short-round is a given. Would be cool to see the return of LOE CHE’,who once again involves himself in the humiliation of DR. JONES, in the would-be attemted thieving of the peacock diamond. JOnes almost had it in his possession again in Temple of DOOM. Now it is up to he, MUTT, and shorty to get it back by all means possible. IF made correctly, INDY five would be like a visual vacation for the moviegoers. It would mark the very first time Harrison FOrd INDY would embark on a real tropical island adventure. We all remember the rock island Nazi bASE IN Raiders. But that was a far cry from that of an actual TRopical Island. I think the young Indy film Treasure of the Peacock’s Eye was one of the very best for the Young INdiana JOnes CHronicles. My prospective idea for the name of INDIANA JONES 5 is the following: EYE OF THE TROPICS. Hats off to GEorge LUcas. He will always be the very best film-maker in my book,or should I say,in my LOst Journal. Thank YOU, GEORGE.

  8. I think it would also be cool if GEorge Lucas could somehow fit Jimmy Buffett into a small role cameo, for Indiana Jones five.Buffett had Harrison Ford to do whip-crack sound effects for a notable song.So why not have JB as a smaller role cameo for Indy 5?Just a thought.Let’s go treasure hunting.
