Claudio Sanchez Teams Up With Peter David and BOOM! Studios For More ‘Amory Wars’

The Geeks of Doom   |    |

Amory WarsBy mk2fac3

Fresh on the heels of their fifth studio album and prose novel entitled Year of the Black Rainbow set to release April 13, 2010, Coheed and Cambria and Evil Ink comics, in conjunction with BOOM! Studios, bring a visual interpretation of two of their most popular albums.

The albums of Coheed and Cambria tell a very complicated sci-fi story entitled The Amory Wars, a tale about a young man named Claudio Kilgannon, son of Coheed and Cambria, and his journey of self-discovery in the face of a galaxy, called the Keywork, in turmoil at the hands of Supreme Tri-Mage Wilhelm Ryan. The first story told, The Second Stage Turbine Blade, released previously on Image Comics, was well received by both fans and critics alike and is getting the Ultimate treatment with a full series hardcover release through BOOM! at a low cover price of $29.99 in May to coincide with the release of the next installment of The Amory Wars.

The next chapter of the story is a chapter that all fans of The Second Stage Turbine have been looking forward to, and it is finally official. In May, Claudio Sanchez (Kill Audio, Coheed and Cambria) teams up with co-writer Peter David (The Dark Tower: The Long Road Home, SHE-HULK) and interior artist Chris Burnham to release The Amory Wars: In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3 #1. In Keeping Secrets will pick up from where The Second Stage Turbine Blade Left off and focus on the development of young Kilgannon and his adventures through the Keywork. The first issue ships in May with covers by Tim Bradstreet and Scott Keating at a cover price of $3.99.

As a fan of this album and series, I am extremely excited to visually experience all of the galactic excitement, and interpretations of Al the Killer, The Velorium Camper, and the Faint of Hearts, and if we can base the next chapter of The Amory Wars on The Second Stage Turbine Blade, then we will see a more developed story than the album provides. I am very excited for this, because the meat of this story lies within In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3.

  1. Brendan Setaro Says:

Incredibly excited for this! One of the great things about being a Coheed fan is the myriad of goodies Mr. Sanchez lavishes upon us (books, comics, side projects with bonus music and such? Yes please!). He’s the type of person who loves these kinds of things, and knows what fans who are like him want. I’m certainly grateful for that! My wallet may be lighter due to it, but I’ll not weep!

  2. Sean D. Says:

I’m super excited for IKSSE:3 Finally have questions answered about the album.

  3. Hurricane Dane Says:

I cannot even begin to express my excitement for this comic.

The Kill Audio comics were a huge waste of time, and only their only accomplishment was to piss me and (and other people) off and raise blood pressures in the wait for what will prove to be the most memorable release of 2010.

  4. Max Bojarzin Says:

Holy shit! I have been awaiting this for too long, and I am very excited… maybe having some money would make it even better :P
