Ah, man. Sometimes you just love to see someone succeed and succeed some more.
Brian K. Vaughan has written some of the best comics I’ve ever laid eyes on in Y: The Last Man and The Runaways (which are both being made into films) AND he’s also a writer on the obsessively popular show, Lost. Now, some original works of his are getting attention that I’m sure they greatly deserve.
A spec script that Vaughan wrote has been purchased by DreamWorks after a bit of a battle-O’-the studios for $650,000 against $1 million. The movie, called Roundtable, is a King Arthur-like tale, with a supernatural twist in the vein of Ghostbusters. Instead of courageous and fearless knights galloping around and saving the day, Merlin has put together a team of MODERN knights — which consists of old athletes, scientists, and actors — to help battle evil forces.
Producing the movie for DreamWorks will be Walter Parks and Laurie MacDonald.
Nothing that Brian K. Vaughan has even breathed on has been anything less than exceptional, and until I see one that isn’t, I’ll just assume it’s all going to be the greatest things I’ve ever seen.
