After two Despicable Me films, those tiny yellow baddies, better known as Minions, are finally getting their own spinoff film, appropriately titled Minions. It’s a sort of prequel to the entire franchise of sorts, as the film will explore the origins of the Minions and their quest to find the perfect boss.
We’ve seen plenty of trailers for the film, but this new video is by far one of the longest, clocking in at almost three and a half minutes. That being said, there is all-new hilarious footage, plus a vital plot that reveals why they end up working for Scarlet Overkill (Sandra Bullock). Check out the latest trailer here below.
There are plenty of laugh out loud moments in this trailer and lots of jabs at the minions working for historical figures like Napoleon, and even mythical ones like Dracula. As you can imagine, having those little guys work for you might not end well.
But these little guys are now tasked with stealing Queen Elizabeth’s crown, and we do get a small glimpse of how that works out. Although we have yet to see if they end up working under Gru by the end of the film. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen quite yet as there will be plenty of Minion stories to tell if the film is success, and chances are, it will be.
Also featuring the voices of Jon Hamm, Michael Keaton, Allison Janney, and Steve Coogan, Minions opens in theaters on July 10, 2015.
Here’s the plot synopsis:
The story of Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment’s Minions begins at the dawn of time. Starting as single-celled yellow organisms, Minions evolve through the ages, perpetually serving the most despicable of masters. Continuously unsuccessful at keeping these masters””from T. rex to Napoleon””the Minions find themselves without someone to serve and fall into a deep depression.
But one Minion named Kevin has a plan, and he””alongside teenage rebel Stuart and lovable little Bob””ventures out into the world to find a new evil boss for his brethren to follow.
The trio embarks upon a thrilling journey that ultimately leads them to their next potential master, Scarlet Overkill (Academy Award winner Sandra Bullock), the world’s first-ever female super-villain. They travel from frigid Antarctica to 1960s New York City, ending in mod London, where they must face their biggest challenge to date: saving all of Minionkind”¦from annihilation.
