We first found out about a prequel to Jim Henson‘s 1982 classic The Dark Crystal coming to Netflix two years ago. Now the first trailer for the series, titled The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, has been released online.
The prequel alone was already exciting, but the series also features an insane voice cast led by Taron Egerton, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Nathalie Emmanuel, who play three Gelfling heroes named Rian, Brea, and Deet.
You can find more info on the show, see the rest of the crazy cast, and of course check out the first trailer below.
Netflix has announced a massive voice cast for The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, a prequel series based on Jim Henson‘s 1982 hit The Dark Crystal.
The voice cast is led by Taron Egerton, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Nathalie Emmanuel, who play the show’s three Gelfling heroes (seen above), named Rian, Brea, and Deet. But there are so many more familiar names involved, as well.
You can find the lengthy list of who else is voicing characters in Age of Resistance below, along with the full images of the three lead characters.
The Shape of Water and Pan’s Labyrinth director Guillermo del Toro has been trying to make his own version of the Pinocchio for a long time now. In fact, it’s a passion project he’s wanted to do his entire life.
Now del Toro is finally getting to make Pinocchio. And better yet, he gets to make it the way he’s been trying to make for years. A stop-motion animated feature inspired by Gris Grimly‘s illustrated version of the Carlo Collodi tale, made with the help of none other than The Jim Henson Company (though they won’t be making the puppets, that will be Mackinnon & Saunders). The film is happening at Netflix which makes all the sense in the world with del Toro behind Trollhunters and an upcoming horror anthology there, and The Jim Henson Company’s Dark Crystal project set up there. And the best part? It sounds like this one is ready to go with production expected to begin this fall.
Another classic is returning to theaters through Fathom Events. This time it’s The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth director Jim Henson‘s 1982 puppet fantasy feature.
The movie is set to return to theaters for a limited run early next year, with screenings on two different days available. You can find more information on The Dark Crystal‘s return to the big screen below, along with a poster.
Back in 2014 came surprising word of a sequel to Jim Henson‘s 1986 feature Labyrinth. The sequel was quickly denied by sources, but no one ever knows if denials like that are because something is actually not happening or if word of it got out to the public before they were ready. A little over a year later the project surfaced again, this time with Guardians of the Galaxy writer Nicole Perlman, though she later said it was clickbait.
Now comes word of a new attempt. It’s being reported that the director behind 2013’s Evil Dead and last year’s Don’t Breathe, Fede Alvarez, has come on board to write and direct the Labyrinth sequel.
