Seth MacFarlane and Fox Working On A Follow-Up To Carl Sagan’s ‘Cosmos’
space

Yes, because when the world thinks of Carl Sagan and his beloved series The Cosmos, it thinks of Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane.

Joking aside, THR is reporting that Fox along with The National Geographic Channel have signed up to team-up with the funny man on a new series entitled Cosmos: A Space-Time Odyssey.

The series will run as a 13-part documentary series, and will find MacFarlane aboard, along with Sagan’s widow, Ann Druyan, and astrophysicist Steven Soter. The kicker here is that it will be hosted by the brilliant astrophysicist (and frequent guest on The Daily Show, where is likely best remembered from) Neil deGrasse Tyson.

The show will hit in primetime sometime during 2013, on Fox with airings on NGC to run later in the evenings. Personally, while this is somewhat odd, I couldn’t be more excited for this. I think The Cosmos is one of the greatest documentary series ever, and a sequel could really be great. What do you think?

  1. It’ll be interested to see how McFarlane weaves toilet humor in with string theory.

  2. Seth is a talentless tool. Nothing more.

  3. Git outa mah hayed, ML – my first thought was that once you involve Seth
McFarlane, you open the event horizon for lines about rings around
    Uranus.

However, if Ann Druyen and Neil DeGrasse-Tyson are on board, I think
it’s going to be okay, and I have seen Steven Soter on the BBC Planets
    miniseries. I’m excited.
