| In Defense Of Seth MacFarlane’s ‘The Orville’
Much like John Carter and The Lone Ranger, The Orville seems to be one of those ventures that professional critics and fanboys alike hated before a single frame was viewed; it became cool to deride them. Here are a few examples of why this criticism seems unfair. And a word of caution: everything from here on will be SPOILERS.

| ‘The Orville’: Seth MacFarlane Talks ‘Star Trek’ Comparison; Fox Not Worried About Being Sued
When watching the trailer for The Orville, the upcoming sci-fi dramedy from Family Guy creator and Ted director Seth MacFarlane, it’s impossible to not immediately think of Star Trek (and also Galaxy Quest). Hell, even Orville executive producer Brannon Braga wrote and produced Star Trek series The Next Generation, Voyager, and Enterprise (which he is credited as the creator of), and was a writer on movies Generations and First Contact. For the 2017 Television Critics Association summer press tour, MacFarlane was asked about the comparison to Trek. Additionally, Fox was asked if they were worried about being sued over the show, especially with CBS having a brand new Trek series making its debut around the same time. See what they both had to say below.

| ‘Logan Lucky’ Trailer: Steven Soderbergh Brings Back The Scrappy Heist
It’s a little bit of a meta opening, but when a trailer introduces itself by saying “from the director of Ocean’s 11, Ocean’s 12, and Ocean’s 13,” you know you’re pretty much in for a Steven Soderbergh-esque caper. Logan Lucky is Soderbergh’s latest directorial effort that drew him out of retirement. In the film, two misfit brothers (Channing Tatum and Adam Driver) and incarcerated explosives expert (Daniel Craig) plot the ultimate scheme to rob Charlotte Motor Speedway. Only thing is, the group may not be capable of pulling off this heist. Unless they have a little luck on their side. Check out the trailer for Logan Lucky below.

| Movie Review: Sing
Sing
Director: Garth Jennings
Screenwriter: Garth Jennings
Cast: Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Seth MacFarlane, Scarlett Johansson, John C. Reilly, Tori Kelly, Taron Egerton, Nick Kroll
Distributor: Universal Pictures
Rated PG | 110 minutes
Release Date: December 21, 2016 Sometimes what looks good can end up being just slightly disappointing. In this case, Illumination’s Sing gives a very earnest effort through its well-intentioned story and an excellent collection of songs that spans generations and genres, but falls very short of being great through its lack of a narrative and inability to juggle the many subplots. Backed by a great ensemble of actors and singers, director Garth Jenning‘s animated film has all the makings of an Illumination Entertainment film, but fails to execute a great concept.
