you can also read any of Georgette Heyers’ last nine Regency romances (yeah I know, so sue me) to get a feel for the morès and speech patterns of an era very close––about a decade or so–– to the actual time period.
Whatever you may think of regency novels, they were invented by GH, who set a standard no bodice ripper writer (and many of them are my friends) has met, or even tried to meet.
Her personal Library consisted of over one thousand books from the period, in addition to an extensive collections of periodicals from the era. Her research was so thorough that her descriptions of the Battles of Quatre Bras (16 June), Ligny (16 June), Waterloo (18 June), and Wavre (18 June-19 June) in her novel
“An Infamous Army” is/was actually used at Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS), commonly known simply as Sandhurst, as educational material.
Anyway, can I get dibs on this one? I am familiar with the era and some of the characters of the time, including the Duchess…

Sara, as I was reading your comments, I was thinking to myself, “Good, she’s got dibs on this then.” Ha! So, there you go. It’s all yours.
