Ha. I bet that title got a lot of cocked heads and confused looks.
While your opinion of Brett Ratner may not exactly include the word “incredible,” he does get work consistently and he now has a possible new project lined up.
THR is reporting that Mr. Ratner is in talks to helm the remake of the sci-fi movie from 1957, The Incredible Shrinking Man. Keenan Ivory Wayans was originally attached, but obviously, is not any longer.
I have a really bad feeling about this, and I’m sure that lovers of the classic will squirm at this news. See, not only is Ratner in talks to direct, but Eddie Murphy is attached to star. Now, I love many Eddie Murphy movies, but we’ve all seen what’s been going on lately, and with these two, you can only imagine what this will look like when it’s all said and done. I shiver at the thought.
Interestingly enough, Brian Grazer is producing the project — along with another project, Playboy — with Brett Ratner (if he signs for this one) directing. Not two names I would expect to see next to each other, let alone twice — but Grazer always has about 327 projects in production, so it must happen more often then realized… maybe.
The Incredible Shrinking Man is about a magician who is cursed to shrink until he disappears and his quest to reverse said curse. The script was written by Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant.
Stay tuned for more on this curious little tidbit.
I knew this was coming sooner than later.
