Disney has chosen an actress to take on the iconic role of Cinderella in their new live-action take on the classic fairy tale, Cinderella.
The actress chosen is Lily James, star of the hit ITV and PBS series Downton Abbey, as well as the ITV2/Showtime series Secret Diary of a Call Girl and Wrath of the Titans.
James joins Cate Blanchett on the movie, who will be playing the evil stepmother role.
Cinderella is being directed by Kenneth Branagh, who directed titles like 1989’s Henry V, Much Ado About Nothing (1993), Frankenstein (1994), and Hamlet (1996) before jumping into blockbusters with Marvel’s Thor in 2011 and the upcoming Jack Ryan, which stars Chris Pine.
An official release date has not yet been set but is expected for some time in 2014.
