Writers Guild Association Nominates ‘Black Panther,’ ‘Roma,’ ‘A Quiet Place’
  |  @   |

The Writers Guild Of America has announced its list of nominees for the best in writing in 2019. Among those nominated are Roma, A Quiet Place, and Eighth Grade for Best Original Screenplay, while Black Panther, A Star Is Born, If Beale Street Could Talk were nominated for Best Adaptive Screenplay. Other nominees include Fahrenheit 11/9 for Best Documentary Screenplay, while Spider-Man (PS4) was nominated for Best Video Game Writing. Check out the full list of nominees here below.

Oftentimes, nominees are a precursor to who is going to be nominated and even win the Academy Awards for best in writing. Case in point, BlacKkKlansman, Black Panther, A Star Is Born, If Beale Street Could Talk were all nominated for Best Adaptive Screenplay, along with Can You Ever Forgive Me. All five have earned high praise for their screenplays. So it comes as no surprise that they have all earned nominations. However, since only five slots are available, that ultimately means some other films will be snubbed or overlooked.

Among one of the films that was overlooked was The Favourite, a favorite (sorry for the pun) to be at least nominated for Best Original Screenplay. However, it seems that many have fallen in love with Green Book. That being said, Eighth Grade, A Quiet Place, Roma, and Vice also earned nominations for Best Original Screenplay.
