‘Bright’ Trailer: Will Smith Protects LA From Fairies, Orcs, and Elves

David Ayer knows how to tell a story about cops in Los Angeles. In fact, most of his films are about cops in the City Of Angels. So it comes as no surprise that Bright, his follow-up to Suicide Squad, features Will Smith as an L.A.P.D. officer. But what separates this particular film from the rest is that Smith’s character is partnered up with an orc named Jakoby (played by Joel Edgerton). That’s because Bright takes place in a world where humans co-exist with fairies, orcs, and other monstrous creatures that usually go bump in the night.
Though the two don’t get along at first, they are forced to put their differences aside when a magic wand surfaces, and everyone is out to get it so they can have their wishes granted. Check out the trailer here below.

In 2015, IDW Publishing launched an ongoing comic book series for Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, based on the works of Douglas Adams. This was to be a lead-up to the BBC America television series of the same name, which debuted last year. After the first miniseries, the TV show’s executive producer Arvind Ethan David, who had been serving as co-editor on the comic, took over writing duties for the next arc “A Spoon Too Short,” with art by Ilias Kyriazis and colors by Charlie Kirchoff. This next wave also had the distinction of having Max Landis, the television show’s writer and executive producer, on board as executive producer.

SPOILERS for Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency…
Last week on Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, holistic detective Dirk Gently (Samuel Barnett) and his sidekick Todd (Elijah Wood) finally solved the case of Patrick Spring’s murder after they came face-to-face with a time-traveling younger version of the man. They’re in a time loop! Todd realized Dirk was lying the whole time about not knowing anything, while Dirk feels what he did was not so terrible. Holistic assassin Bartine (Fiona Dourif) and her sidekick Ken (Mpho Koaho) were absent last week, but we know they’re planning to continue their search for Dirk Gently, but this time perhaps not try to kill him. Todd’s ailing sister Amanda (Hannah Marks), also absent in Episode 1.7, had previously left with energy vampires the Rowdy 3 after learning that her brother had lied about having had Pararibulitis, a debilitating genetic disorder she’s currently suffering from. Farah (Jade Eshete) escaped captivity yet again, and took out the droned Agent Weedle (David Lewis). The nefarious Gordon Rimmer (Aaron Douglas) escaped from Detective Estevez (Neil Brown, Jr.), who still has Gordon’s corgi Rapunzel (Bentley the dog) that has Lydia Spring’s (Alison Thornton) soul in it. Inside Gordon’s temple, Dirk was shot by Gordon’s drones, who then also zapped Todd.
Here’s a recap of what happened this week on the Season 1 finale, Episode 1.8 “Two Sane Guys Doing Normal Things”…

SPOILERS for Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency…
Last week on Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, holistic detective Dirk Gently (Samuel Barnett) and his sidekick Todd (Elijah Wood) ended up in the clutches of the nefarious Gordon Rimmer (Aaron Douglas) and his drones. But by episode’s end, the duo appeared to be on the verge of escaping via a time machine! Todd’s sister Amanda (Hannah Marks) was furious with him for lying about having had Pararibulitis, a debilitating genetic disorder she’s currently suffering from, so she left with The Rowdy 3. It’s unclear where Farah (Jade Eshete) was after being knocked out by the droned Agent Weedle (David Lewis). Detective Estevez (Neil Brown, Jr.) figured out that Lydia’s soul had been swapped with Gordon’s corgi Rapunzel (Bentley the dog). Holistic assassin Bartine (Fiona Dourif) and her sidekick Ken (Mpho Koaho) decided to try to find Dirk Gently again, but not try to kill him next time.
