Now here’s what I’ve been waiting for!
An unrated and extended version of Death Proof, the Quentin Tarantino-directed portion of theatrical double feature Grindhouse, will be released as a 2-disc DVD on September 18, 2007, by Genius Products and The Weinstein Company.
Nearly 30 minutes longer than the original theatrical version, the Unrated Extended cut includes footage never-before-seen domestically, including the conspicuous “missing reel” of Vanessa Ferlito‘s lap dance, and a black-and-white segment in the second “act” offering a prelude to Kurt Russell‘s Stuntman Mike character.
Dressed in the excessive and sensationalistic style of the cult exploitation genre, Kurt Russell (Poseidon, Escape From New York) stars as a deranged stuntman turned psycho serial killer who stalks his victims from behind the wheel of a roving, revving, racing death machine, but when he picks on the wrong group of badass babes, all bets are off in an adrenaline-pumping, high-speed vehicular duel of epic proportions. Their confrontation escalates to an extended mano-a-mano car chase with one of the girls strapped to the hood of a thundering Dodge Challenger.

AND YET, it has not even seen a theatrical release here in the UK and the US get it on DVD already?
The Weinsteins need to reconsider what went wrong and get it properly released over here rather than pissing around.

boo, they arent releaseing both movies together? I hope planet terror comes with extras of the inbetween commercials, some of those were hilarious. As far as death proof goes.. i nearly dozed off multiple times, just cause nothing totally interesting was happening. Though i’d prolly buy this just cause i did like it overall.

Looking forward to getting this on DVD. At the same time, it is fustrating that the Weinsteins feel so compelled to separate these two. Will we ever get to see the whole thing on DVD ever?

Great movie – major faux pas. When drinking in Guero’s Taco Bar, Julia makes a call on her cell phone and sends a text from the phone. No cell phones like that in the 70’s.
