Cover price: $5.00; On-sale now
If Watchmen deconstructed the superhero, then Super F*ckers reconstructs them into drug-addicted, egotistical, power-hungry sex fiends.
Super F*ckers is a hilarious, satirical, superhero romp. Of all the bad things you ever thought about doing if you had superpowers, the cast of Super F*ckers outdoes completely because you don’t have superpowers and they really do! Vortex alters reality just to impress his girlfriend. When Grotessa asks Vortex if he saved the world again he replies “Yeah, a little.”
Princess Sunshine sleeps with team leader Grotus, who is a small, smelly, disgusting, purple version of the Herculoids Gloop, just to gain some influence. Jack Krak and Burdock pummel each other to be the first one to get to Grotus’s sex leaving’s which get you higher than a hot-air balloon filled with paste. Jack Krak is the mother f*cker!
The profanity vocabulary is raised to new heights as Kochalka extends, hacks, combines and evolves every curse and insult you have ever heard. The verbiage itself is enough to keep you laughing, let alone the antics going along with it.
There is much gay accusation, innuendo, and flat-out flamingness going on in Super F*ckers. Between SuperDan’s full frontal nude Super F*cker of the month (mini) layout, Orange Lightning waking up nude surrounded by three male members of his fan club and Jack Krak’s “man ruffles” it is definitely a subject Kochalka is trying to make a statement about. Jack Krak is the mother f*cker! What that statement is I have no idea.
Kochalka’s style is simple and colorful. It is very cartoony with bright colors, no shading and virtually no blacks. The book is created using colorholds on everything that would be inked in a normal comic book. There are very few instances of black, only the eyes, Grotessa’s hair and Jack Krak’s hair and moustache. Jack Krak is the mother f*cker! The look is very pleasing and works very well with the subject matter.
Star F*ckers is 27 pages (plus cover) of 8 inches by 8 inches of full-color comic including use of both the front and back of both the front and back covers. The inside front cover and the outside back cover are mini strips featuring SuperDan and his sidekick “Percy” whose new look more genuinely reflects his new moniker, Omnizod.
This issue labeled #279 is really issue #4. All three previous issues are available on the Top Shelf web site. The first issue will run you seven bucks. The cover price is pretty steep even compared to mainstream comics. I believe Kochalka is producing this book solo and a tremendous amount of work is involved, even with this simple style, but $5.00 seems a lot to dish out for any one book. It is a fairly quick read, but it does pay off big with many burst out loud laughing moments. I will definitely pick up the other issues when I see them.
Super F*ckers is the one comic book that every comic book fan should read. If you like you’re superheroes flaming, high, nasty and outright horny…and if you’re over 18, of course.
This sounds awesome. I haven’t purchased a comic book in over 10 years, you may have actually inspired to read a comic book again.
