‘Star Wars: The Force Unleashed’… The Movie?

The Movie God   |    |

Force UnleashedWhat would you say if you heard that a new Star Wars movie was coming along in the form of an adaptation of the video game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed?

Would you be furious at the idea of a new non-animated adventure or would you giggle with glee?

Recently, the LA Times spoke to Force Unleashed project leader Haden Blackman, who said it wasn’t as far-fetched as you’d assume.

Oh, [it] would be incredible. And it’s not impossible. Never say never. George [Lucas] has looked to tell new ‘Star Wars’ stories through the games and with the entire Star Wars expanded universe, and then he has also shown a willingness to let the characters come into the films.

I don’t really know what to think about this. It’s really just chatting and I doubt anything will ever come of it, but they do like making movies out of games and this one is supposed to have a decent story. On the other hand, I highly doubt George Lucas would decide to allow this to be made into a movie before he breaks down and makes another $2 billion with the final trilogy in his trilogy of trilogies.

Yeah.

What does everyone think, yay?

  1. Ryan S Says:

I think it would be fantastic if George did make this movie. I really enjoyed the game. The story was fantastic and it was the story I wanted to see in Episode III.

But I do agree that George would probably not get around to making this one.

  2. JustinSane Says:

Dammit george, give it a rest already. No one cares about starwars any more.

  3. N Says:

A new hope. great. Empire. Epic. Jedi.Balls. Prequels. Pathetic. Indiana Jones. Heartbreaking. IS there any way at all a movie merely touched by George Lucas these days could be good? My thoughts are no. Hes a hack with two much money on his mind. he should have been asked to stop while he was ahead.

  4. Bryan Says:

yeah, JustinSane, the billions of dollars in revenue and thousands who attend conventions every year sure do back up your ridiculous statement.

  5. korollocke Says:

PROBABLY HAPPEN BEFORE WE SEE THE LAST THREE ORIGINALS.

  6. Jerry Says:

He really can’t let it go. What a shame.

  7. Bryan Says:

There is no last trilogy. Lucas has been very public about that. I was around in the 70’s, the whole “9 movies” thing was just a rumor. As for “letting it go”, who wants him to? Not millions of SW fans, that’s for sure.

  8. Siah Says:

Just finished this game a few days ago and the story is great for all you Jedis out there, and for gamers its easy gamerscore for ya.. movie? nahhhh this is fine as a game – in fact if you just watch all the cut scenes in the game back to back u would have an ok CG movie.. maybe they can reference StarKiller and Ram Kota via cut scenes in the final flics..

  9. Schutzenegger Says:

You have to remember that the big screen isn’t the only option
There is a TV series being worked on that could easily fit in a Starkiller into it…

And eve if it was made into a movie, who’s to say that George Lucas would direct it?

To say that anything touched by Lucas isn’t good these days is a pretty uneducated statement to make as his companies are everywhere
    THX
    Skywalker Sound
    Industrial Light & Magic

    To name a few…

  10. Siah Says:

I’m hoping Lucas has the Brett Favre syndrome.. some of the books and blogs I have read on the final trilogy “potentials” have some awesome plot/subplots..
2, 3 years will go by.. fans will be in detox – the force will compel Lucas to start on the next flic. I feel it.
Come on JustinSane you know u want it to happen.

  11. JoJo Says:

The Knights of The Old Republic games would make for great movies. The Star Wars universe will always hold its place in time. Its not just something that will die out.

  12. Edgar Says:

I agree with Siah on this one. The story from the Force Unleashed worked well for the game. It was in fact the most satisfying aspect of it, since the gameplay was a bit wonky on all platforms it came out on. But taking it to the big screen wouldn’t really work since they would need to flesh it out more and expand it with more plot devices/characters/etc. to the point it would feel diluted. It would be terrible if they got it wrong… However, I think JoJo hit the nail on the head… years from now when George Lucas has passed on, the plots from games like KotOR and TFU could be transformed into movies. More so based on the fact that Lucas himself had approved said games and their plotlines.

  13. Simon Says:

It would be great if they did make a movie this game actualy had a good story… We can only hope that george has nothing to do with it. His already wrecked the last 4 movies, god dam SOB.. What ever he had he lost after jedi.. RIP George lucas’s creativity…RIP..

  14. Matthew Says:

I think it would be a awesome movie. But if Geogre decided to make it, it would probably be around 2014. And then the story for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will be boring and unexciting. But I think it would be awesome to see it on the big screen.
