Land of the Lost - The JetsonsThe Grindhouse director is in talks to helm film adaptations of two classic television shows.

Director Robert Rodriguez in talks to direct feature film adaptations of classic TV’s The Jetsons and Land of the Lost.

The Jetsons, based on the 1960s television cartoon about a space-age family, would be a live-action film for Warner Bros. Pictures. The latest draft of the script was written by Adam Goldberg, who penned the screenplay for the upcoming flick Fanboys.

For Land of the Lost, based on the 1970s Sid and Marty Krofft TV series about a family trapped in a alien land populated with dinosaurs, the director met with Universal executives and Will Ferrell, who’s attached to star.

No offers have been made and it’s not clear which project, if any, Rodriguez will sign on to do.

  1. I never thought of these as movies, but I can see them. But it is hard to image The Jetsons as a live action movie, the adaption I am not to sure of. But I know with all the special eefects these days Hollywood can pull it off. Hope it is not all done in CGI. For the other movie Land of the Lost I can see that being adapted more and making it into a movie, it was some what live action already. Th e only thing is I hope the don’t ruin it by making the movies, they can stand alone as T.V. series. Both were good but I would choose the Jetsons over Land of the Lost.

  2. I dunno. With Will Ferrell, Land of the Lost could capture that low-budget, B-movie silliness if directed right. I’m not sure if Rodriguez is the one to do it, but he does seem to have a pretty good feel for the silly. His Spy Kids movies were actually pretty good.
