Last week, we reported that The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising official site had been updated with a “Seek The Signs” section where users could register for a quest to find 6 hidden symbols that would unlock exclusive content. At that time, the quest had not officially been launched.
The folks over at Fox Walden let us know today that the “Seek The Signs” quest is now in full effect, with the signs now hidden in the film’s trailers, posters, billboards, cardboard cutouts, and much more. The colorful symbols, which are very challenging to unearth, will also unlock even more content on the Web site in the future.
Once registered at the film’s official site, you can embed a personalized “Seeker Badge” into your own site so you can track the progress of your Seeker Quest.
In the film, based on the Dark Is Rising Sequence book series by Susan Cooper, teenager Will Stanton travels through time collecting six different signs that will help him save the world.
According to an article in today’s WSJ, the movie studio will insert 25 different combinations of the signs into its marketing, which lead to 25 different pieces of content on the official Web site.
Directed by David Cunningham, the film stars Ian McShane, Alexander Ludwig, Frances Conroy, Gregory Smith, and Christopher Eccleston.
The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising is scheduled to hit theaters October 5, 2007.
I looked at the trailer on Apple and couldn’t find it — is it in the dialogue or actual shown on screen?

Has anyone had any luck with the “Seek the Signs” quest? I have found several clues and was wondering if anyone else had. The trailer is at: http://www.apple.com/trailers/independent/theseekerthedarkisrising/

Pity they didn’t put the same effort into making a good adaptation of some brilliant books. Instead we’re getting a possibly mediocre film (to be optimistic) and a horrible adaptation.
I really wish I could say better things about this film, but it’s unlikely to happen.
