If you’ve already watched the entire season 3 of The Office on television, you might think there’s no reason for you to get this DVD.
But you’d be wrong.
Aside from the fact that all 22 episodes are still hilarious on the second, third, and fourth viewing, this four-disc DVD set is packed with over three hours of deleted scenes. Now, I know what you’re thinking: deleted scenes are deleted for a reason — because they suck. Not so in this case. ALL of the deleted scenes are great and only serve as proof that The Office should be an hour-long show.
For those of you unfamiliar with this popular NBC sitcom based on the British series of the same name, The Office stars Steve Carell as Michael Scott, the clueless, unintentionally un-PC regional manager of the Scranton, PA, branch of the Dunder-Mifflin Paper Company.
The sitcom is filmed documentary style, chronicling the lives of the Scranton office employees, who often take time out of their work day to do confessionals for the unseen cameraman. But the camera isn’t just confined to the office; it follows the employees to their holiday celebrations, restaurant outings, conventions, and in one of the show’s funniest episodes, coworker Phyllis’s (Phyllis Smith) wedding to refrigerator king Bob Vance.

The Office – Season 3 DVD!
Season 3 sees the transfer of new employees to Scranton office, as well as Dwight’s (Rainn Wilson) resignation and triumphant return; there’s the aforementioned wedding, prefaced with an in-office shower with a Ben Franklin impersonator; for Christmas, the men head to Benihana’s where they pick up some waitresses and bring them back to the office party (episode directed by Harold Ramis); Michael goes on a romantic vacation and accidentally sends out some revealing photos to the entire company; the sales force goes out in pairs on sales calls; and the gang heads to the beach for a day of competitions. Also throughout this season, the love triangle of Karen (Rashida Jones), Jim (John Krasinski), and Pam (Jenna Fischer) continues, culminating in the revealing one-hour season finale.
Along with the deleted scenes, The Office Season 3 DVD contains a 16-minute blooper reel that is one continuous laugh-fest. The DVD set also includes episode commentaries by the cast; the “Lazy Scranton” video; The Dwight Schrute music video; the videos from NBC’s “Make your own promo” contest; an excerpt from the 58th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, where host Conan O’Brien falls through the office ceiling and flirts with receptionist Pam; excerpts from the 2006 NBC Primetime Preview hosted by the cast; an interview with Joss Whedon, who directed the episode “Business School” (the famed “bat” episode); Kevin Cooks Stuff in The Office and Toby Wraparounds.
