McSweeney’s has posted an unused script for Spider-Man 2 that was written by author Michael Chabon (The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay).
You can check it out in PDF for here, and you should do so quickly, as it won’t be up for long. Chabon, who did receive a story credit on Spider-Man 2, was one of four writers to pen a script for the sequel. (Alvin Sargent’s version was the one used, and he went on to write the third movie, too.)
I haven’t read the script, because frankly, I really don’t enjoy reading scripts. But, for those of you who do end up reading this, let me know what you think of it. And more importantly, let me know if Doc Ock still has to steal bundles of cash from the bank to buy supplies to equip a laboratory in a shack on the docks which gets electricity, how? Yeah, let me know.
Here’s what McSweeney’s says about the script:
In honor of Maps and Legends, Michael Chabon’s first book of nonfiction, which features a pretty amazing three-tiered die-cut jacket by Jordan Crane, and is available now, here””in honor of all that, we present the following Maps and Legends bonus material: Chabon’s screenplay for Spider-Man 2. Chabon was the third of four screenwriters assigned to the project; he ultimately received shared “screen story” credit. As far as we know, this script hasn’t been seen anywhere else, and it won’t be seen here for long.
