Very, very recently, rumors were swirling that the fourth installment in the Terminator franchise — Terminator: The Return of Terminator — was maybe being scrapped for no reason at all. Now, it seems that was all B.S. as today we have a new casting possibility for the film!
THR is reporting that Moon Bloodgood is in final negotiations to star as the female lead in the movie. Her character will apparently be a bad-ass member of the resistance. She’s been seen in such films as Eight Below, Pathfinder, and the upcoming Streetfighter movie.
I’m very happy to see that this is still going forward; I’m excited to see what they do with a star like Christian Bale in their cast and I have hopes that they can regain the magic of T2. I’m just waiting for the news that it will be rated PG-13 to ruin that all for me, of course.
Personally, I think that they really, really need to re-think the title here. I know that the working title was Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, which was a bit long, but come on — Terminator: The Return of the Terminator? That’s the worst, “I’m not even trying!” title I’ve ever heard in my life. That’s the crap a kid who’s playing Terminator in his room with Ninja Turtle action figures and a Barbie doll comes up with. How about Terminator: Salvation? How about Terminator: The Future Begins. How about someone takes 12 minutes and thinks something, ANYTHING else up that would be immensely better?
Hell, they could call it Terminator: We Got Christian Bale! and that would be worlds better.
Maybe that’s just me.
