For a while now, Mark Hamill has been more known for his voice work as the Joker in the animated Batman series and video games, than he has been for any live-action roles but that may be changing soon.
Hamill has signed on to play an as-of-yet unnamed role in a project called NEW-GEN, a superhero property which was originally distributed by Marvel and which can be read now on Panelfly, and serves as a prequel to the planned film. As near as I can tell, this will be Hamill’s first big-screen role since 2003. NEW-GEN creators A.P.N.G. Enterprises announced today that not only was the live-action film happening, but also that the company would be releasing a 3D Motion Comic.
I shouldn’t need to tell you who Mark Hamill is, but if you don’t know, go and rent a little movie called Star Wars and then come back and join the rest of us. You probably don’t know what NEW-GEN is though, neither did I before now. NEW-GEN is the story of twin brothers who gain super powers through nanotech and have to fight in a war between two worlds. Sounds like your typical sci-fi/super-hero action tale to me, so we’ll just have to see if this movie ever actually gets made.
Is this something to get excited about? Well it is Mark Hamill on screen so there’s that, but it’s an unknown property and I don’t have a lot of hope that this movie will ever see the light of day. Prove me wrong.
