First Look At The Cast Of Tim Burton’s ‘Dark Shadows’

Never let it be said that director Tim Burton doesn’t have a distinct style.
With his big screen take on the cult TV series Dark Shadows in the midst of production, EW has premiered the first photo of the collected cast, and while it definitely looks fine, it does the polar opposite of spark interest.
Personally, if there is one issue I have with Burton and his current output, it is that it’s beyond stale. He seems to be directing on autopilot at this point, save for a few inspired beats in something like Sweeney Todd, and this photo proves that he’s just making more of the same. Nothing about this photo looks particularly original or interesting, so despite the fact that this thing has a great cast, this isn’t a film that has really sparked any sort of intrigue. What do you think?

Thanks for reporting on the new “Dark Shadows” photos, but I’d just as soon wait for my copy of EW than read your piss poor opinion of it. Is it possible for you guys to actually write an article without inserting some editorial and unwelcome opinion on it, because really, there are fewer things I am less interested in than your opinion when I want to read up on news. What makes it even more annoying is that if you had the sense to actually research the original 1970s show you’d recognize this is far more stylistically relevant to that than to Burton’s own style. But then, I suppose you automatically assume that if it’s dark and relatively gothic looking it MUST be Burton’s own style.

Not sure who is playing Barnabas, but he looks young. Much younger than Jonathan Frid was.
