A new zombie MMO is on the way titled The War Z, where you’ll be able to live in a world devastated by the zombie apocalypse.

It’s not the first zombie MMO to be released, but is hoping to become the most popular with an impressive list of what you can expect from the game.

The game will be coming to PC, and will offer a mixture of player-vs-player and player-vs-environment, as well as RPG elements and the ability to play on any servers your friends might be playing on, with up to 250 players on a server. It will have two modes: normal and hard. The former will allow you to be revived after a period of time if you die, with your death in the latter being permanent. You’ll also have the option to switch between first-person and third-person perspectives a la Bethesda games, which is pretty exciting.

Other things The War Z will offer include safety areas where you’ll be able to talk with other players and trade away from the dangers of the zombies outside, as well as a big map (around 200 to 400 square kilometers, which equals out to about 77 to 154 square miles) and multiple camera angle options.

The only problem I can see with it so far is that the title is far too much like Max Brooks’ novel and upcoming movie, World War Z. Will a name change be necessary in hopes of better distinguishing itself?

If you want to play The War Z it won’t be free—there is a one-time fee—but after that, you’re good to go. No subscriptions required.

The game is expected to be released some time this upcoming fall season.
