Before Peter Jackson strolled onto the Hall H stage at the San Diego Comic-Con in July to present The Hobbit, the promotion for the property was at full throttle. First there was the announcement photo that principal photography was completed, then came the sweet San Diego Comic-Con exclusive poster of Gandalf the Grey walking along a path in The Shire. Then we saw the video blog that marked the end of production. Now comes what may be the greatest photo promo, our first look at a scrolling poster featuring all the major characters from the first of what will now be three films, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
So check it out below.
While some may have their reservations about 48fps, there’s no doubt that these promotional items look good. But just because it looks good on paper, doesn’t mean it doesn’t look good on screen. We’ve seen only one trailer, and those who have already seen the clips at 48fps, were disappointed. Hopefully Jackson can find a way to remedy the situation. As mentioned above, this new poster features some of the most prominent characters of the movie in their best moments.
Among some of the images that can be seen on this lengthy poster is Elrond in a familiar space, Gandalf the Grey just outside Bilbo’s home, Bilbo hosting a dinner party to some rowdy dwarves, Gandalf meeting the man-bear Beorn. And that’s just to name a few.
The poster comes courtesy from the people over at Entertainment Weekly. If you head to EW, you will get an awesome zoom feature that will allow you to look at the details of each scene.
