The status of the Josh Trank-directed Fantastic Four reboot remains in flux, but 20th Century Fox is more than determined to get the ball rolling and head into production. Minor setbacks like giving Simon Kinberg to do the rewrites have prevented the film from actually moving forward. But a new shortlist of actors who are testing for the lead roles gives us a sign that the film could make its March 5, 2016 release date.
Variety maintains that Michael B. Jordan (Chronicle) is still in the running for Johnny Storm aka The Human Torch, and add that Kit Harington (Game of Thrones), Jack O’Connell (300: Rise Of An Empire), Miles Teller (The Spectacular Now), Saorise Ronan (Hanna), Kate Mara (House of Cards), and Margot Robbie (The Wolf Of Wall Street) will all be testing for lead roles in the upcoming film in the near future.
According to the report, Harington, O’Connell, and Teller are just some of the actors who are in the running for Reed Richards aka Mr. Fantastic. Teller’s name has been attached to the Mr. Fantastic role for a while now, but Trank has previously said that Teller being in the running was nothing more than a rumor. So it’s interesting to see Teller’s name reappear on the list.
Ronan’s name is interesting though. She has openly admitted to trying out for a role in the J.J. Abrams-directed Star Wars: Episode VII. But who knows what’s going on with that film. She could very well end up having to choose between the two if both of the directors think she’s a good fit.
Oddly enough nothing was mentioned about the role of Ben Grimm aka The Thing. But since Trank has narrowed down his actors, it only makes sense that he turn his attention finding an actor to play the orange hulking brute.
Do you like the list? Who should play who?
