Empire Magazine has been revealing a new character photo every hour from their X-Men: Days Of Future Past exclusive cover set. Nerds everywhere are frothing at the mouth over the photographs, sometimes in a good way…sometimes not. A lot of the characters that we are familiar with haven’t changed a bit, but there are a lot of new faces for us to argue over. Honestly, I do believe director Bryan Singer is trying to do his best to bring audiences something they will love, but whether he makes it happen is going to be up to the ever fickle public opinion.
Check out the set here below of covers revealed by Empire today; we’ll be updating the photo gallery as new cover images are released. There will be 25 characters on 25 covers in all.
Anna Paquin will be reprising her role as Rogue for the new film and she’s looking pretty stylish in her gray suit. We get a couple of Magnetos, both Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender are looking very armored for their cover shots. Heck, even Patrick Stewart’s Professor X is in riot gear, though James McAvoy’s younger Charles Xavier is in more casual attire. We get to see a couple of different Hugh Jackman cover’s as Wolverine. Beast, Storm, Iceman, and Shadowcat (Kitty Pryde) all seem fairly standard. Josh Helman gives us a solid looking young William Stryker. Bolivar Trask is being played by one of my favorite actors, Peter Dinklage. Blink, Warpath, Sunspot, and Quicksilver are all new for this film, too. Toad is being played by a newcomer to the franchise, Evan Jonigkeit. Oh, and the Sentinels are pretty badass looking, too.
I must say, overall, I’m pleased with the reveal. It’s typical of Bryan Singer to reinvent the characters slightly for the silver screen. And speaking of Singer…he even gets his own cover! That’s right, he’s one of the 25 exclusive covers. That’s a first, by the way, he’s the first ever director on an Empire cover. Check out the gallery below and see what you think! I’m pretty certain one character will stand out from the rest…no spoilers from me, though. Make up your own minds. And feel free to leave comments, we love to hear from our readers.
