Singles sometimes have it rough on Valentine’s Day. Everyone expects you to be sad, and thinks if you “act” like you are cool with being single, then you are just putting up a brave front. Some singles get self-reflective about their status. In honor of Valentine’s Day, Jimmy Fallon helps these reflectors this week by reading posts from Twitter with the hashtag #WhyImSingle during the “Hashtags” segment of The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon.
Watch the video here below of the #WhyImSingle Hashtags segment of The Tonight Show.
Fallon’s “Hashtags” segments are always a hoot, with viewers sending in comments for whatever conversation starter he posted on Twitter the night before. Some previous segments include #WorstGiftEver and #myweirdgymstory.
#WhyImSingle held its own with wonderful tweets like:
“I refuse to give up my side of the bed, which is both sides because I sleep like a starfish.” Me too, miss. That can be overcome!
“My stepdad tells every guy I bring home, ‘whatever you do to my daughter, I’ll do to you.'” I’m stealing that for my husband to use on my daughter’s future suitors.
Zack Braff sent in a tweet, too. Want to find out what it is? Just watch!
Fallon (with the help of Higgins) adds his own interpretive moves and funny looks and comments to go with these tweets, like miming Jedi moves for the girl that pretends to be a Jedi in front of automatic sliding doors, or doing a dead stare for a stalker-y (yet hysterical) tweet.
Earlier this week, Fallon and The Roots created love songs from audience suggestions in another Valentine’s Day-themed segment, Jimmy Fallon & The Roots Freestyle Love Songs For Valentine’s Day.

Never watched Jimmy Fallon & never will, just the same as not ever seeing a single episode of Jay Leno’s tonight show. I only mention it because he’s constantly mentioned in the news. I do note that his face/neck is getting kind of puffy as he ages, marching, as we all do, inexorably to death.
