Kickstarter Spotlight: Skies of Fire

You might remember last year when I wrote a little Kickstarter Spotlight on a project entitled Skies Of Fire. I went in with one expectation and found something that was not only different but far better than I could have imagined. And I wasn’t the only one that thought so, more than five hundred people just like you donated so much that the fundraiser ended more than 300% to goal! That success followed the creators to the conventions they attended last year and they sold every single copy they had produced! Well, folks, here’s your chance to not only get a copy of that amazing comic, but also the second issue in the series with their newest Kickstarter: Skies Of Fire: #1-2!

I am a huge fan of crowdfunding; this explains why I spend so much time writing these up and trying to entice you, the reader, into dropping some of your hard earned money on a project or three. Let’s face it, there are a multitude of things you could find to buy at any comic or game store, right? The difference with these is that you can oftentimes get exclusive pieces that you won’t see commercially available anywhere else. And you are being a creator yourself! By giving money to a project that you find interesting, you are helping to tell the world that those particular genres/items matter to you. It creates awareness of the product but also helps to drive sales into a favored category. Like fanny packs, you never know what will be popular and become the next big thing. Not that I support the wearing of fanny packs but if you do, power to you! Essentially what I’m saying is that by supporting something you love, you have the chance to expose others to that same item and maybe new fans will be created. But anyway, on with the show.

I cannot say enough cool things about the folks that put Skies Of Fire together. They come from all walks of life and from all around the world, five continents to be more accurate. Each one bringing a particular skill set that has proven invaluable in the creation of this epic comic series. The craziest thing about it all is that they didn’t all meet until New York Comic Con last year! Until then all of their collaboration was done online. regardless of having never met in person prior to publication, this group really turned out some spectacular work. And you have the chance now to snag some cool swag during their second fundraiser!

You know the routine by now, certain donation levels equate to tiered rewards and prizes. As little as two bucks will get you a sticker whereas six dollars has you becoming the proud recipient of both issues one and two in digital form. But if print editions are more your thing, then you can pick either one for only twelve smackers! Personally, I like the posters and they’re easily attained at the fifteen dollar level. But remember: the more you donate, the more you get! Twenty gets both issues in print and digital forms. There are shirts, postcards (I got some of those last time…they are awesome), wicked special editions, original sketches and even original art from the comic! And the killer part is that the absolute most expensive level is only $250! And that one includes two original sketches and pretty much everything else I’ve mentioned. Talk about dedication to the fans!

I haven’t really spoken about the actual comic here because I hope you’ll watch the video below to let them explain it to you. The concept is original and the world is vast, it almost feels like it could be adapted into a great roleplaying game (hint, hint). I’ll be supporting this one (just as I did with the last one) and I hope to see your names on the list, too. It’s affordable and it is unique; that’s a winning combination in my book. But if you aren’t convinced yet, check out the official Kickstarter page here for more information. Again, I’ve embedded the video below to give the creative team a chance to tell you all about it. It’s like steampunk meets fantasy with more than a little of some good old fashioned adventure themes thrown in to keep it exciting. This campaign ends on May 9, 2015 and since it’s already fully funded, you know you’ll be receiving the rewards you choose!
