| Kickstarter Spotlight: Glow #1-7: A Post-Apocalyptic Techno-Fantasy Odyssey
I had to look through the GoD archives to see how long it had been since I first discovered Ray Chou and the wonders he and his teams create. It all started with a little project from his company Mythopoeia (now called Mythworks) called Skies of Fire and I backed that one right off the bat, about ten years ago! In fact, it might have been one of my very first Kickstarter Spotlights! I have never, and I mean NEVER, been disappointed with anything this group has turned out. This article is all about their ongoing series Glow that has been funded purely through Kickstarter, but they even have a roleplaying game called Wildsea available! Read on to hear more about how you can obtain Glow from the first issue through the upcoming seventh one.

I have an addiction. Well, more than one, really. But if you take away caffeine, books, collectible toys, and music, then you’ll probably notice that I have a thing for comic books and all of the accoutrements that go along with being a comic nerd. And do you know what’s the best part of being an adult in this day and age? No, not that. No, not that either. Geez, it’s obviously the fact that fans can get in on the ground floor of up and coming comics through crowdfunding! For the record, it was in the title of this article but I’ll give you a pass since I’m excited to be able to introduce you to this Kickstarter Spotlight for Glow #1! See, if I ramble on long enough there’s usually a point to be made. But seriously, this project comes to us from the leaders of the group that has continually kicked ass with their Skies of Fire series, all of which were funded through Kickstarter, too! I think I may have mentioned them a time or two, like here, here, and also here. But with this new comic, they’ve taken an entirely new direction. Focusing in on a pair of siblings, this adventure will explore not only a futuristic world where technology and magic have coexisted but they’ve gone so far as to give it its own language. Prominently featured within the art, this extra feature allows the team to tell stories inside of their primary tale, drawing the reader deeper into the world of Glow.

| Kickstarter Spotlight: Skies Of Fire: #1-2
You might remember last year when I wrote a little Kickstarter Spotlight on a project entitled Skies Of Fire. I went in with one expectation and found something that was not only different but far better than I could have imagined. And I wasn’t the only one that thought so, more than five hundred people just like you donated so much that the fundraiser ended more than 300% to goal! That success followed the creators to the conventions they attended last year and they sold every single copy they had produced! Well, folks, here’s your chance to not only get a copy of that amazing comic, but also the second issue in the series with their newest Kickstarter: Skies Of Fire: #1-2!

I’m going to be honest up front. I really thought after an initial first glance that this Kickstarter for Skies of Fire was for a steampunk-themed comic. And being a fan of that genre, I quickly agreed to write it up. But when I found out that this was actually about diesel-powered airships, I was even more intrigued. Imagine a world, set in an era that corresponds closely to our post-World War I Europe, where battles are fought in the air with huge cannons mounted on zeppelins and loads of airplane dogfights. And while this might look like our world, it’s not. There are a lot of unique pieces to this puzzle. Allow me to explain. Set in the Aquilan Empire, the story revolves around a quasi-British empire whose naval fleet defends its colonies and holdings from marauders and pirates. The premise here is about one of these raiders destroying a trading post that is essential to the Empire’s financial well being. Add to that the fact that the pirate has evaded the authorities by seeking sanctuary in the huge eternal storm known as The Expanse and one of the Imperial Captains is sent to give chase, and we get one swashbuckling tale of adventure on the high skies!
