Here’s a fun and totally random one to end your week on. Not only is a Kindergarten Cop 2 on the way, but the movie is being filmed right this very moment with The Expendables, Rocky IV, Universal Soldier, and Masters of the Universe star Dolph Lundgren leading the cast. This movie isn’t even listed on the actor’s IMDb page yet.
Arnold Schwarzenegger starred in the 1990 original movie, which followed a cop going undercover as a kindergarten teacher to find and apprehend a drug dealer. This new movie apparently has the same basic idea, only instead of looking for a drug dealer, Lundgren’s character is seeking a missing flash drive from the Federal Witness Protection Program that somehow ended up in a kindergarten.
Kindergarten Cop 2 is being directed by Don Michael Paul, who has previously made a collection of little seen movies and sequels to well-known movies such as Half Past Dead, Who’s Your Caddy?, Lake Placid: The Final Chapter, Jarhead 2: Field of Fire, Sniper: Legacy, and Tremors 5: Bloodlines. He also directed Taken: The Search for Sophie Parker, which follows a parent who heads to Russia to find her kidnapped teenage daughter. Seriously, that’s a real thing. Go check!
The movie is written by David H. Steinberg, whose previous credits include American Pie 2, Slackers, National Lampoon’s Barely Legal, American Pie Presents: The Book of Love, and Space Racers.
If you want an idea of what Kindergarten Cop 2 might look like, there are a few images from the set, including an image of the official production chair for co-star Darla Taylor (Best Day Ever: Aiden Kesler 1994-2011, Almost Human, Supernatural) which stylizes the title as KC2. You can see them over at Manly Movie.
Now we just need a new Silent Hill game set in a scary replica of the movie’s setting.
