Demon Freaks
Paperback | Kindle
By J.R.R.R. Hardison
Publisher: Fiery Seas Publishing
Release Date: October 3, 2017

The Slaughter twins could not be more different, although identical. In a band with their friends Meat and Kaitlyn, they decide to spend the night at a cabin studying for the SATs, but they know they will probably just jam all night. In trouble with their uptight teacher, and looking at a bleak future working at their parents’ McDonalds store, their whole adult lives may ride on this test. A freak storm brings their freaky murderous teacher, some freaky demonic followers, and some freaky golfers (?) to their doorstep, and from there it is a race for survival. Especially, after their drummer gets possessed by a dagger. Yes. A dagger.

More below about Demon Freaks by J.R.R.R. Hardison.

This book was fast and fun. Although everyone was in danger pretty much the entire length of the book, the life-threatening situations were quite comical, and of course, unbelievable (but that was the point). Hardison has packaged enjoyment, complete with a group of zany kids who pretty much have to save the world from psychotic zealots who want to raise a demon.

My favorite character is Meat (that’s right). His character was painted so well, I could probably draw him from the description alone (not an artist). The author takes you on his wild and funny ride, and all you can do is hang on. I can easily see this as a dark action comedy on the big screen.

The ending was a surprise, and satisfying to boot. Read it!

Official Synopsis:

It’s the night before the SAT test. The forces of darkness are stirring.

Twin brothers, Bing and Ron Slaughter, know they’ve got to cram like their lives depend on it because their college plans sure do. If they don’t ace the test, they’ll be doomed to spend the rest of their days flipping burgers at the McDonald’s their parents run. That’s why they hatch a plan to meet up with the members of their punk band, the Ephits, spend the night studying at a secluded cabin in the woods, and maybe squeeze in a little jamming. What could go wrong with a brilliant plan like that?

Ancient evil. That’s what.

As a cataclysmic lightning storm rolls in, Bing, Ron and the rest of the Ephits find themselves tangled in a sinister plot to summon a demon. Yes, demons are real. To survive the night, the band must find a malevolent artifact, battle bloodthirsty monsters and stand against the most dangerous and powerful foe humanity has ever faced…the Golfer’s Association.
