It may seem a bit farfetched, but according to one half of the writing team behind Michael Bay‘s next film, Pain And Gain, the project will be decidedly different than his previous work.
Writer Stephen McFeely revealed to The Playlist that the upcoming project, which itself is a black comedy based on a true crime, is closer to films like the Coen Brothers’ Fargo, than anything he has done in his career.
The film is based on an article in the Miami New Times, that followed the story of a pair of bodybuilders who form a kidnapping and extortion ring. It’s set to be a pitch black comedy, and with that premise, it does sound like it will be quite intriguing.
Personally, while I’m not a huge fan of Bay or his work, the idea of him stepping out of his comfort zone like this could be quite interesting. I love black comedies, and with Bay’s sensibilities, this could be a blend unlike anything we’ve seen in quite some time.
What do you think?
