Pain and Gain Image

Remember when Bad Boys came out? It was a cop action comedy filled with action, explosions, sweat, and extreme close ups. Well Pain and Gain looks like it is more or less of the same, but it still looks like Michael Bay got what he wanted after he said that the film would be his passion project.

The first trailer for Pain and Gain has now been released, and you can check it out below.

Pain and Gain Header

Believe it or not, Michael Bay has a passion project that doesn’t involve massive explosions, sci-fi elements, or big robots. Pain & Gain is based on actual events and will follow two muscle-brained body builders (played by Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson) who have come to the realization that a life of crime, kidnapping, and drug dealing isn’t as easy as it sounds. The film also stars Anthony Mackie, Ed Harris, Rob Corddry, Ken Jeong, Tony Shalhoub, and Bar Paly. Now Paramount has scheduled April 26, 2013, to be the release date for the film.

You can also check out the full poster here below.

We previously saw a teaser photo of Johnson cooking what looks like to be a severed limb. But promotion for the film went cold. Now that we’ve got a release date and a teaser poster, we could be seeing more promotions maybe even a teaser trailer.

The Rock in Pain and Gain

During the late ’90s, my junior high class was completely fascinated by Dwayne “˜The Rock’ Johnson. They questioned teachers and fellow classmates with his infamous question: “Can you smell what The Rock is cooking?”

Ten years and a few movies later, Johnson has made a name for himself outside the wrestling ring. He is just one of the many stars who will appear in Michael Bay‘s new passion project Pain & Gain and in this new image, people will once again be asking themselves: “Can you smell what The Rock is cooking?”

If there has ever been a pairing as intriguing as this one, at least in the world of action films, I have yet to see it.

Variety is reporting that actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is eyeing the lead role in Michael Bay‘s upcoming film, Pain And Gain.

Mark Wahlberg is also being looked at to star alongside Johnson, in what is being described as a low budget crime flick following the story of a pair of bodybuilders that end up getting mixed up in an extortion ring. The film is being penned by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

Is Michael Bay’s ‘Pain And Gain’ Like ‘Fargo’?

It may seem a bit farfetched, but according to one half of the writing team behind Michael Bay‘s next film, Pain And Gain, the project will be decidedly different than his previous work.

Writer Stephen McFeely revealed to The Playlist that the upcoming project, which itself is a black comedy based on a true crime, is closer to films like the Coen Brothers’ Fargo, than anything he has done in his career.
