Remember when Bad Boys came out? It was a cop action comedy filled with action, explosions, sweat, and extreme close ups. Well Pain and Gain looks like it is more or less of the same, but it still looks like Michael Bay got what he wanted after he said that the film would be his passion project.
The first trailer for Pain and Gain has now been released, and you can check it out below.
Based on magazine articles written by Pete Collins, Mark Wahlberg plays a body builder who wants more out of life than pumping weights and chugging protein shakes. Partnering up with a fellow bodybuilder (Anthony Mackie), the two concoct a scheme to kidnap one of Miami’s most notorious criminals (Tony Shalhoub) and use the ransom they get to get rich. The two also team up with an ex-con (Dwayne Johnson) to help ensure that their plan goes smoothly.
Looking at the trailer, I am kind of happy that Bay decided to direct Pain and Gain before agreeing to direct Transformers 4. For one thing, Pain and Gain goes back to Bay’s roots as a director. But this is Michael Bay after all, and most us know what he is capable of.
Christopher Markus and Stepehn McFeely wrote the screenplay, while Bay, Donald DeLine, and Ian Bryce produced. Pain & Gain also stars Ed Harris, Rob Corddry, Bar Paly, Rebel Wilson, and Ken Jeong. Paramount will release the film on April 26th.
