Before it was just one, now there could be three. During an interview with THR at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Paramount President Adam Goodman revealed that Darren Aronofsky‘s biblical epic Noah would be adding two actresses to the cast. Jennifer Connelly – who has been long rumored to be a part of the cast – and Saoirse Ronan are reportedly joining the cast.
Here is the exact quote from THR:
“It will be a big, robust production and will have tremendous scale. It’s the perfect combination of casting [Russell Crowe, Saoirse Ronan and Jennifer Connelly] and a remarkable adventure. This isn’t what you think of when you think of Darren, but it will be very true to him as a filmmaker. It will be PG-13 and will likely cost around $125 million.”
Now the reason why I included the exact quote was to point out that the names are in brackets. So far only Crowe is locked in for the lead role in Noah. This could possibly mean that THR only assumed that Ronan and Connelly are being cast. However, should they be added, they would likely be closely tied to Noah, perhaps play as his wife and daughter.
Goodman also confirmed that Noah will not be a limited budget film that we are used to seeing from Aronofsky. $125 million is nothing to scoff at, and a majority of it would probably go to the biblical flood sequence, because what’s a story of Noah without the flood. The PG-13 rating isn’t that big of a surprise considering the nature of the story itself.
We will keep you posted on the progress of this biblically epic film as soon as more news comes out.
