Another ’80s movie is set to get remade. This time it’s 1985’s Explorers, a movie that starred River Phoenix, Ethan Hawke, and Jason Presson as a trio of friends who build a real spacecraft. The original was made by Gremlins and The Howling director Joe Dante.
The remake is through Insurge, a low-budget arm of Paramount Pictures, with Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol writers Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec producing.
On writing duty for the Explorers remake is Geoff Moore and Dave Posamentier, who make their writing and directing debut with the upcoming Sam Rockwell and Olivia Wilde movie Better Living Through Chemistry.
No director, cast, or information on how the remake will be approached has been revealed yet.

Why do they even try. This movie is great as it is. It doesn’t need a remake. F-These people!

Will this remake ruin the original that everyone remembers back when?
