Paramount Pictures has released an official trailer for Downsizing, the latest from the two-time Academy Award winning director of Election, About Schmidt, Sideways, The Descendants, and Nebraska, Alexander Payne.

The movie stars Matt Damon and Kristen Wiig as a married couple who decide to take part in a revolutionary new scientific process created as a solution to over-population, which involves being shrunk down to just a few inches tall.

DESCRIPTION:

When scientists discover how to shrink humans to five inches tall as a solution to over-population, Paul (Matt Damon) and his wife Audrey (Kristen Wiig) decide to abandon their stressed lives in order to get small and move to a new downsized community “” a choice that triggers life-changing adventures.

Starring alongside Damon and Wiig is Christoph Waltz, Hong Chau, and Jason Sudeikis.

Payne also penned the screenplay along with Jim Taylor, who he won an Oscar with writing Sideways.

Downsizing will be released in theaters on December 22nd.
