Terrence Howard Shocked At Being Replaced In ‘Iron Man 2’
space
The Movie God   |  @   |

HowardNo surprise here, but Terrence Howard was recently interviewed and asked about why he was replaced by Don Cheadle for Iron Man 2.

Sources had said that Howard was out for the Iron Man sequel because of “monetary disagreement.” But according to Howard, he has no idea why he was replaced and was completely surprised by the news that surprised most everyone who heard it.

It was the surprise of a lifetime. There was no explanation. [The contract] just”¦up and vanished. I read something in the trades implicating that it was about money or something, but apparently the contracts that we write and sign aren’t worth the paper that they’re printed on, sometimes. Promises aren’t kept, and good faith negotiations aren’t always held up.

As I said in our coverage of the initial news of Howard being replaced in the Jim Rhodes/War Machine character, something just doesn’t feel right here (see Don Cheadle Replaces Terrence Howard For ‘Iron Man 2’). I’m still patiently waiting for all of this to be sorted out and explained, because none of it makes any sense. Maybe Cheadle was cast in another role and there was confusion, maybe there was a falling out that we don’t know about, maybe they’re feeling wacky… hard to tell.

All I do know is that if Iron Man 2 does come around and Don Cheadle has actually replaced Terrence Howard and there’s not a whole lot more information to this story, I’ll be very surprised and the masses shall be not happy.

  1. Wait, he implies that he had a contract but then speaks of their agreement as one of good faith?

    I’m confuzzled.

  2. Well this sucks. We need an explanation. I, and much of the audience I suspect, won’t want to have to warm up to a whole new Rhodey. And you pick Cheadle? I don’t know. It doesn’t really seem to fit.
I wish they could just get the whole thing straightened out and bring back Terrence Howard.

  3. I agree man 100%. Movies are never the same without the original actors. Cheadle is an older man and doesn’t fit the role. I don’t see how he could hold together in an iron suit. I can see Terrence Howard in the suit. I definitely agree that Terrence should be brought back into the franchise. Whether it be because of his mistakes or because of the profit that he made. A lot of fans will be and are dissapointed that Terrence Howard has been replaced. I know this posting is late, but I think they should recall the movie and shoot with Terrence Howard in it.
