Darren Lynn Bousman, who is best known for directing Saw II, Saw III, Saw IV, and Repo! The Genetic Opera, is now officially set to direct Abattoir. The movie will be based on a Radical Publishing comic miniseries by Bousman and his writing/producing partner Michael Peterson.
Considering the miniseries isn’t out yet, not too much is known of the premise aside fore the synopsis below and what Bousman has to say about it — both included below. What we do know, is that it will be some kind of a haunted house story, and those are always fun. That paired with the sick and twisted brain of Darren Lynn Bousman means that this could be one to watch for by both comic book and movie horror fans alike.
Here’s what Bousman had to say about the project:
I am addicted to haunted house stories. I love them… My addiction to this genre became an obsession to create one of my own. Abattoir is my spin on a haunted house story.

Abattoir chronicles real estate agent Richard Ashwalt who is assigned the impossible task of cleaning up after a brutal massacre that takes place at a mansion. As he cleans the blood-soaked grounds, a twisted old man journeys to the house with a sinister and terrifying purpose, and draws Richard into a web of shadows, murders and massacres that will shatter him to his very core”¦and make him run for his life.
Radical Comics is getting a lot of attention from the movie world, recently announcing that Underworld and Live Free or Die Hard director Len Wisman would be helming a movie based on their comic Shrapnel. They also have deals in place with places like Universal and Spyglass, as well as Peter Berg, Johnny Depp, and Bryan Singer’s respective production studios.
No word yet on when we may see the movie; the comic is expected to come out some time in 2010.
