Almost a year ago, we found out that Smokin’ Aces director Joe Carnahan would be directing the new adaptation of The A-Team. Around the same time, there were rumors swirling that former UFC light-heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson could possibly be playing the role made famous by Mr. T: B.A. Baracus. These rumors weren’t taken very seriously, of course, and eventually many other names were rumored, which moved Jackson slightly out of memory.

It appears that this story is back in sight, as it is being reported by the Vancouver Sun that Rampage has shown up in Vancouver to begin filming for the movie. The report basically states that the fighter is there, and has been seen signing autographs, so technically it’s not a 100% confirmation. Though it does seem that Rampage’s much-anticipated upcoming fight with Rashad Evans has been called off for a second time — the first being due to injury, and this time, it’s assumed, so that the movie can be filmed.

I’m personally a big fan of the UFC and of Rampage Jackson, so I’m kind of on the fence about this news. I’m saddened by this big fight being called off again, and just like everyone else, I’m not sure if the man can act, which would be problem #1. I can, however, assure you that Jackson is a very funny, very entertaining man. Scary to look at, but within a few minutes, he’ll have you laughing like you’re old friends. Whether these positive attributes will shine through on film depends really on the script and how it’s all handled.

It seems out of nowhere that MMA stars are showing up in movies everywhere. A pile of them are in Sylvester Stallone’s The Expendables; female fighter and former American Gladiator Gina Carrano is apparently setting up to star in a new Steven Soderbergh movie called Knockout; not to mention the many others that came before this current purge.

The A-Team has already cast Bradley Cooper in the movie as Face, and there’s rumors that Liam Neeson may be cast as Hannibal. So do you like Rampage Jackson being involved, or is there someone better for the job?
