Do These ‘Lost’ Supper Images Hold The Answers We Desire?
  |  @   |

ABC has released a couple of interesting images for the start of the final season of Lost, which begins on February 2, 2010. The images use the popular promotional tactic of taking your show’s cast and recreating Leonardo da Vinci’s “The Last Supper” painting (in this case it has to be called “The Lost Supper,” just because), which as you know, featured Jesus Christ in the center, surrounded by his apostles before he was crucified.

In this case, we’re looking at two images that were released, and as with anything related to Lost, we are all wondering if anything that we are looking at is a hint to the mysteries we wish to know the answers to oh-so-badly. Both images show the cast sitting at a table and enjoying a nice Dharma Initiative dinner. John Locke is sitting right in the middle of it all, which interestingly dresses him as Jesus…or at least god-like. The rest of the crew is around him and in the first image (seen above — click to go large), they’re all staring right at Locke. In the image below, the only difference is that they’re all now looking at us, and Claire and have switched sides, with Hurley moving over one seat.

You can check out the second image by heading over to the other side.

I’m not exactly smart enough to go around digging out hidden meanings here. As far as I can tell it’s all just as cryptic as they love to be on that show, but it certainly offers an interesting perspective. What does Locke as Jesus mean? Is the seating arrangement random, or is this promises of keeping with two opposing factions? You could go even deeper and wonder if the building rubble means anything, or why they’re all sitting in comfy airplane chairs as well, but if you’re like me, it’s probably better just to enjoy these images for what they are and watch the show when it comes back on.

In other words, don’t hurt yourselves, kids.

  3. “What does Locke as Jesus mean?”

Locke was killed, hung up, and rose again a few days later.

  5. it is a popular image – in the past few years it has been used in The Simpsons, Watchmen, BSG, House and many more. Here are 100 other examples for comparison, and the Lost version holds up very well:
