**UPDATED BELOW**
Some big-time rumors have been taking over the net recently. Unfortunately, they are all rumor, and that means we still have to wait for official announcements. But hey, while we’re here, might as well share the whispers and see what you think!
The first rumor comes by way of New Zealand’s Stuff (via AICN), who claim to have the inside scoop on Indiana Jones 5. We’ve heard plenty from stars and others (Read: Shia LaBeouf Says Steven Spielberg Has The “˜Indiana Jones 5″² Story Set ) that the movie would be happening, but nothing about what we might be able to expect from the film.
The thing about this rumor is: you probably want it to be true.
According to the source, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg are close to finishing the Indiana Jones 5 script, and it will begin filming next summer. It’s also said that this time, the storyline will revolve around the infamous Bermuda Triangle, which has been linked to many mysterious disappearances, including famed female pilot Amelia Earhart.
On top of that, if this ends up being accurate information (and it does come from an award-winning, trusted site), it looks like they want to make this the last hurrah for star Harrison Ford, who apparently already has time all set aside for filming. They’re even describing it as an “emotional and exciting conclusion to the franchise, with Indy facing his biggest challenge yet.”
The report also states that Indy’s son Mutt Williams (Shia LaBeouf) will be a central character again, which could be bad news to many. Although LaBeouf’s comments recently can lead you to believe that he badly wants to make up for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
But what’s the absolute best thing that could possibly happen with Indy 5? The exact thing that this source claims is being concentrated on: going back to the roots. That means that if these rumors are true, the idea is to make another huge Indiana Jones movie without the crazy effects and ridiculous over-usage of CGI, which was without doubt the biggest kill-shot to the last film. Please let it be so.
The other rumor we’re dealing with here isn’t quite as elaborate, and it’s the worst kind of rumor because it deals with a solo casting, and those always seem to go in a different direction. Bleeding Cool has reported that they have heard that Jamie Bell — star of Billy Elliot and Steve Spielberg and Peter Jackson’s Tintin trilogy — is Sony and director Marc Webb‘s choice to play Peter Parker in the Spider-Man reboot.
It’s pretty clear that a few names, including Josh Hutcherson and Frank Dillane, are still possible for the part, but the source seems to be fairly confident that Bell is the man. It looks like the plan there is to bring the young English actor in, screen test him for a few weeks, and then making sure he can physically stand up to the challenges required for such a role.
What do you guys think: are these all good-news rumors if they end up being true? I always favored Anton Yelchin to become Spidey, but that name never seemed to come up. Of the names in the running, Bell is probably the best for the job.
Stay tuned for confirmations and denials galore!
UPDATE: Once again, this is why even bothering with these rumors is a waste of time. Super producer Frank Marshall chimed in on the Indiana Jones story via his Twitter account today, saying “The rumor about INDY 5 is completely false. Nothing has changed, we are not shooting next year and still in the research phase…”
Sometimes I just hate the internet.
He’s a former ballet dancer – of course he’s physically up to the role. Whether it’s right for him is another matter.

Lucas and Spielberg should never be allowed to direct anything ever again. And if that turd Shia LaBeouf returns to the series they wont be getting any of my money.

Amelia Earhart disappeared in the Pacific, the Bermuda Triangle is in the Atlantic.

Bermuda Triangle and Amelia Earhart? What the hell? You need to fire your editor/fact checker. The Bermuda Triangle is in the Atlantic/Gulf of Mexico. Earhart disappeared in the South Pacific.
