Not since May have we heard anything significant regarding the ultra-secretive new project from director J.J. Abrams and producer Steven Spielberg, called Super 8. Back then it was the release of the unique teaser trailer (Read: Watch Now! Teaser Trailer For J.J. Abrams & Steven Spielberg’s “˜Super 8″² Released), which did its job in grabbing our attentions, but was also created before any actors were even cast.
The movie had remained uncast since the release of the teaser, until now of course. Two new talents have joined the film in Kyle Chandler, who’s best known for his head coach role on TV’s Friday Night Lights and from Peter Jackson’s King Kong, and Elle Fanning, the younger sister of Dakota Fanning who’s done plenty of acting herself, including The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and the upcoming holiday film, The Nutcracker in 3D.
At the moment, all details are being kept under wraps, including who these two new additions will be playing. All we really know is that the movie is something of a homage to Spielberg’s films of the ’70s and ’80s, and will somehow revolve around some kind of creature escaping when a train crashes that may or may not be spotted on an 8MM home video at some point.
Super 8 is expected to begin filming in the near future, with a summer of 2011 release currently in the plans.
